Star Wars

Directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the mega-hyped sequel to The Force Awakens, promises to take the Star Wars Universe to new heights with loads of lightsaber duels and space battles. With armies of AT-ATs, death battles in space between Finn and TIE fighters, a battle-trained Rey with her lightsaber, and Luke Skywalker’s homecoming – nerds everywhere are freaking out! As Luke informs us in the trailer, “This is not going to go the way you think.

Mark Hamill, of course, will be the centre of attention in The Last Jedi as Luke Skywalker returns from his self-imposed exile to kick some Sith butt. The cast of the upcoming movie will also feature Daisy Ridley reprising her role as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, and CGI creature expert Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, who will finally step out of the shadows.

Rumours abound that Tom Hardy will make a cameo as a Stormtrooper

Also, after Daniel Craig’s surprise cameo as a stormtrooper in The Force Awakens, it seems that Tom Hardy will be making a cameo this time; as a First Order stormtrooper who recognises John Boyega’s Finn, slapping him on the behind, unaware that the hero is undercover.

Sadly, The Last Jedi will mark with the unfortunate passing of Carrie Fisher, who plays Princess/General Leia Organa. Fisher died of cardiac arrest on December 27, 2016, at the age of 60.

There are rumours about possible deaths in this edition of Star Wars. Who do you think will die? Take our Poll here.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Synopsis

Star Wars

The story of every Star Wars movie remains the same: the good guys beating the bad guys! Having taken her first steps into the Jedi world, Rey joins Luke Skywalker on an adventure with Leia, Finn and Poe that unlocks mysteries of the Force and secrets of the past as the Resistance prepares to do battle with the First Order.

Two years ago, Star Wars: The Force Awakens delivered one major blow to the Star Wars Universe when Kylo Ren killed his father, Han Solo. John Boyega spoke about Solo’s death in an interview and how it would affect the story and greater Star Wars universe. Boyega stressed the breakneck pace of the conflict and the characters’ inability to take time and grieve.

I think we’re just keeping it moving, to be honest with you man. The pressure’s on. There’s no time. I think that’s one thing that’s unique to me, about watching this movie, was the commentary on war,” Boyega said. “There hasn’t been a Star Wars movie, yet, that has explored war in the way ‘The Last Jedi’ does. It’s very messy. The categorising of good and evil, it’s all mixed together. In terms of Han, I’m sure we all feel sentimental if someone was to sit Finn down or Rey down. But Rey’s off training, she’s got stuff to do. I got a back injury, I’ve got stuff to do. Can’t think about Han at the moment.

Star Wars
R.I.P Han Solo

So, it seems like the franchise will continue on without Solo. But, since a figurative ghost of Han Solo had to be present, Star Wars director, Rian Johnson, revealed that Harrison Ford‘s late character will be felt in The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Did You Know?

The reboot of the Star Wars Universe almost didn’t happen! Mark Hamill didn’t want to return to wielding a lightsaber as he believed that audiences wouldn’t want to see him, Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) and Harrison Ford (Han Solo) as older iterations of their famous characters.

Fortunately, he changed his mind when Ford agreed to return as Han Solo. Hamill admits, “Can you imagine if I was the only one to say ‘No’? I’d be the most hated man in nerd-dom.”

No sh*t, Sherlock!
