Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek – An R-Rated Space Adventure

Breaking News! Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek – Daring to Go Where Star Trek Movies Have Never Gone Before – Into R-Rated Territory

Quentin Tarantino and Star Trek? Wait! That doesn’t sound right. But, it is! It seems that the legendary director has pitched a Star Trek movie to Paramount and is secretly working with J. J. Abrams to help bring it to life. Understandably, Tarantino has stipulated that the movie had to be R-rated if he is to be involved in it at all – something which Paramount and Abrams are more than happy to do.

Tarantino, who has routinely turned down big-studio directing gigs in favour of doing his own thing, is currently working on Helter Skelter which will explore one of the most infamous murders of all time – The Manson Family Murders, led by Charles Manson. Helter Skelter will be released on August 9th, 2019 and will be distributed by Sony Pictures.

Known for his original ideas like Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained etc., Tarantino has apparently shared his idea of a gore and profanity-filled Star Trek movie with Paramount and Abrams. If things go according to plan, we may soon see a Star Trek movie with Tarantino serving as director while Abrams serves as producer.

Deadline – Breaking the News About Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek

Deadline, who first broke the news, reported that the project would be the first R-rated Star Trek movie (if it actually makes it to the big screen, which is still a big hypothetical at this point), and that The Revenant screenwriter Mark L. Smith is the frontrunner to tackle the script for a project Tarantino is expected to potentially direct.

Already busy prepping to direct the film he just set up at Sony Pictures, Quentin Tarantino is also planning to boldly go where he has not gone before. Sources said that Tarantino has come up with a great idea for a Star Trek movie at Paramount. After sharing his idea with JJ Abrams (who himself is busy prepping Star Wars Episode IX), I’ve heard the plan is to assemble a writers room of scribes who’ll hear Tarantino’s take and begin to put together a movie. If it all works out, Tarantino might direct it, with Abrams producing.

Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto have signed contracts to return as Kirk and Spock for a fourth film. And, in July 2016, Abrams confirmed that Chris Hemsworth would return as Kirk’s father, George, whom he played in the prologue of the first film. Also, Patrick Stewart said he’d be open to reviving his famous character, Captain Jean-Luc Picard, if Tarantino wants him (Stewart is a big fan of Tarantino and wants to work with him).

One of my dreams is to work with Tarantino. I admire his work so much, and to be in a Tarantino film would give me so much satisfaction. So, if he is going to direct something to do with Star Trek and there was the possibility of dear old Jean-Luc showing up again and doing that for Mr. Tarantino, I would embrace it.

It will be interesting to see one of Hollywood’s great true auteurs taking up an existing franchise movie, something he has refrained from doing his entire career (Kill Bill doesn’t count). What happens when we mix Reservoir Dogs with Star Trek?

Pulp Trek Basterds?

Guess, we’ll find out.
